Our menus are built around island foods; including ‘ulu, kalo, and ‘uala, as well as the plentitude of tropical fruits, organic vegetables, grass-fed meats, organic poultry, and wild-caught local fish.

Chef Jasmine strives to build Hawaii’s local food system by sourcing as often as possible from local farmers who run diversified agriculture ventures and small homesteads. By working with HeartBeet Catering, you support Hawai’i in building our independence and breaking free from our reliance on the global food system.

Jasmine’s passion for food

Chef Jasmine's passion for food comes as a result of her personal experience of healing through diet and plant-based medicine. After years of battling her own food sensitivities and working to heal herself of Crohn's Disease - a severe autoimmune disorder - she wants to share her experience and motivate others along their healing journey. Her inspiration comes from the food itself, and the medicinal qualities inherent within whole, traditional foods. She sees cooking as a way to connect more closely with her community and her home – the farmers, healers, chefs, eaters, and the land itself – by sourcing ingredients from local, sustainable, and ethical farmers. As a personal caterer, she enjoys being creative with recipes in order to tailor dishes to your specific needs. When she’s not busy working at her family’s business, Sweet Cane Café, she can be found experimenting in the kitchen or playing in the family’s organic garden. She is always dreaming up new recipes made without wheat, soy, genetically modified, or refined ingredients. On her own time, Jasmine finds peace in yoga and nature. Jasmine is also a Certified Master Food Preserver, and she is continually expanding her knowledge and understanding of food and healing.

In our current food system, we must be diligent to avoid foods that can be very health depleting. If you are on a path of healing, and are interested in adopting a diet that will support your healing, I am here to help. Having been through my own self-healing journey, I'm well versed in health-supportive food and cooking techniques. I create nourishing and delicious meals by cooking with whole, organic, and free-range ingredients, sourced from sustainable, local farms.

I cook knowing that every body is unique and that we all require whole, nutritious, real food (not chemically-laden, processed, packaged) in order to thrive. This is a simple truth, but one that can be difficult to understand and implement in our modern food system. I have been working with food all my life, since growing up in a health conscious family on an organic farm, to cooking at Sweet Cane Café, and healing myself through food; I continue to expand my awareness of food and health, and the interconnections of both. My greatest learning has come from my personal experience of healing through whole foods, and I am so happy to share my knowledge with anyone who might benefit. Since healing myself of a severe case of Crohn's disease, I have been on a mission to spread the word about the power of food as medicine.

The industrial eater is, in fact, one who does not know that eating is an agricultural act, who no longer knows or imagines the connections between eating and the land... When food, in the minds of eaters, is no longer associated with farming and with the land, then the eaters are suffering a kind of cultural amnesia that is misleading and dangerous.
